Plenty of sunshine and lots of glass

Impressive turn arounds

We were asked by Searcy’s to photograph and document how they could transform a venue from an empty space into a fully functioning event in under an hour.

This shoot required capturing the team’s quick, organised setup process and the final, polished result, all within a tight timeframe.

To document the entire setup process, we set up a time-lapse camera on a stable tripod, positioned to capture a wide angle of the room. With this, we could step back and let the camera continuously capture each moment, showing the impressive speed and efficiency of Searcys’ team in a visually dynamic way.

Sunshine problems

The biggest challenge we faced was the abundance of natural light streaming through the venue’s large glass walls, creating shifting brightness and potential exposure issues. The sunlight varied dramatically as the shoot progressed, casting both intense highlights and deep shadows. To work with this rather than against it, we adjusted our camera settings to find a balance that would capture both the team’s movements and the vibrant sunlight without overexposing. Leaning into the natural light gave us a creative edge, using the reflections and highlights to emphasise the activity in the room. The sunlight streaming through created dramatic contrasts, which lent an artistic quality to the images, making the setup process feel both professional and almost theatrical.

A high end finished product

Thanks to the dynamic lighting and the team’s fast pace, the resulting shots felt alive with energy. Every moment, from arranging the tables to adding final touches, was beautifully highlighted, capturing Searcys’ team in action with a sense of elegance and efficiency. The time-lapse footage turned out wonderfully, capturing the team’s transformation of the room from empty space to an event-ready setup in under an hour. The final imagery reflected not only Searcys’ impressive organisational skill but also the elegance and brightness of the venue, making the setup itself look like a piece of performance art.
